Hi!  We are Syam Buradagunta and Anna Bremner.  Two individuals with a passion to help others, help others.  Read on to learn why we believe in peer to peer fundraising and enjoy what we do at Blue Sky Collaborative.

Syam:  As a first generation immigrant from India, I was raised with very traditional core values.  Education, work ethic, empathy and community were emphasized by my parents in their words and examples.  As a result, it’s no surprise I was drawn to the nonprofit sector.  Since the core values that my parents embedded in me are also prevalent in the best nonprofits.  Still, like many people who began their careers in the 1990’s the internet and its endless possibilities was my primary focus.  E-commerce, content providers, search engines, and advertising companies dominated the landscape.  I dabbled in some of these areas but was quickly drawn to the transformative potential peer to peer fundraising creates for the greater good.

Anna:  Being a woman in technology, especially 15 years ago, meant you stood out and worked harder to prove your programmer bona fides.  But being unique and surprising people was incredibly rewarding. Hence, it’s what I love about the story of Blue Sky Collaborative: we do things differently.  At the beginning our goal was to bring something new to fundraising.  I’m proud of the fact that as grassroots fundraising becomes more ubiquitous, we evolve and stand out by offering a service that is different from other firms.  

Fifteen years ago we founded Blue Sky Collaborative and our SWEET! platform.  Online peer to peer fundraising was new at the time.  The first Do It Yourself (DIY) and Peer to Peer fundraising platform we built in 2001 generated $6 million for ALS research.  Thanks to a dedicated group of families.

These families brought amazing energy to championing their cause.  These families inspired us.  As a result, our goal became to harness that same energy, to help other amazing nonprofits achieve their missions.

We evolve SWEET! in collaboration with our clients to meet their unique needs for participants, volunteers and donors.  Therefore, our clients can craft their online peer-to-peer fundraising efforts in their own vision.  Also with SWEET!, organizations keep more of the money they raise.  More money allows better investment in mission and campaigns.  That’s why we never charge platform percentage fees on the fundraising dollars raised by organizations.
