Hi! We are Syam Buradagunta and Anna Bremner, two individuals with a passion to help others help others.  We thought it would be a good idea to share how and why we believe and enjoy what we do at Blue Sky Collaborative.

Syam:  As a first generation immigrant from India, I was raised in a home with very traditional core values.  Education, work ethic, empathy and community were concepts that were emphasized by my parents in their words and examples.  It’s no surprise that I was drawn to the nonprofit sector in my career since the core values that my parents embedded in me were also prevalent in the best nonprofits.  Still, like many people who began their careers in the 1990’s, the internet and its endless possibilities was my primary focus.  E-commerce, content providers, search engines, and advertising companies dominated the landscape.  I also dabbled in some of these areas but would soon learn that I was drawn to the transformative potential that the newfound connectivity had for the greater good.

Anna:  Being a woman in technology, especially a decade and a half ago, meant that you stood out and often had to work harder to prove your bona fides as a programmer. But being unique and surprising people was incredibly rewarding. It’s what I love about the story of Blue Sky Collaborative: we do things differently. From the beginning our goal was to bring something new to fundraising, and I’m proud of the fact that as grassroots fundraising has become more ubiquitous, we continue to evolve and stand out to offer a service that is completely different from any other firm out there.

Fifteen years ago we founded Blue Sky Collaborative and our SWEET! platform.  Online peer to peer fundraising was new at the time; there was no name for it even. The first DIY/Peer to Peer fundraising platform we built in 2001 generated $6 million for ALS research thanks to a dedicated group of families.  We were blown away by the energy those supporters brought to championing their cause. We were determined to harness that same power to help other amazing nonprofits achieve their missions.

We evolved SWEET! in collaboration with our clients to meet their unique needs for their events, volunteers and donors.  With SWEET!, our clients have the ability to craft their online fundraising efforts in their own vision.  In addition, we want organizations to keep more of the money they earn.  More money allows better investment towards mission and campaigns.  That’s why we never charge platform fees on the fundraisring dollars raised by organizations.

Thanks to our clients for all you do to support your communities, and especially for allowing Anna and I to support you.  Please don’t hesitate to contact either of us for anything, at any time.  It’s always a pleasure.

Best,
Syam and Anna
